Come and enjoy the luxury and privacy of the Historic 'San Jacinto Cottage'. This beautifully restored 1937 California Monterey Ranch Home sits at the foot of the San Jacinto Mountains and is walled and gated for complete privacy on 1/3 acre. The home is located in the historic Tennis Club area of Palm Springs and is very walkable just a few blocks from downtown. Enjoy the sparkling salt water pool and private grounds. The home has 4 bedrooms and 4 baths - so lots of room for everyone. Centrally located walking distance to terrific shops, eateries and Museums. The home was originally built by the Pershing Family - General John J. Pershing, and has long been an oasis of relaxation and solitude in the desert. Over the years it has been host to numerous celebrity guests and international events. It is rumored that Gen. George Patton would stay here when in the desert as well as Hollywood Celebrities.
The large estate has over 2700 square feet of living space and is surrounded by 1/3 of an acre of sprawling grounds. There are 4 large comfortable bedrooms each with own private bath. Two of the bedrooms are ensuite, one of which is over 500 sq. ft. The main living quarters include a large living room with a wall of glass sliding door and chef's kitchen complete with stainless steel appliances. The home has been designed for indoor / outdoor living with french doors that frame the incredible mountain and/or pool views from virtually every room. The home has been extensively and lovingly remodeled and outfitted with top elegant and comfortable furnishings with early California Monterey furniture and accessories. All of the beds are premium quality outfitted with 100% cotton linens for all of the bedrooms and baths. Period paintings and artwork grace the walls and rooms throughout. Vintage Library and period details create an environment typical of early California desert living.
The outdoor space includes a very large and private backyard with expansive 1937 estate size 'Salt-Water' pool. It also includes a chef's barbecue and wood burning fire pit. A perfect place to view the beautiful starry nights in the desert.... There's also plenty of room for entertaining or just relaxing by the pool and enjoying your own private views of the majestic mountains.
The House is completely private and and remote yet walking distance to Downtown Palm Springs Shops and Restaurants. It is also very close to the exclusive Ingleside Inn and Viceroy Hotel. Peace and quiet with style and quality. The perfect getaway...

Summary: The home is very warm and welcoming some rentals are clean but sterile this home seems like someone loved this house and decorated it with items that meant something to them. The pool is large the air conditioners work excellently we were all impressed and did not want to leave. Beautiful neighborhood.

Summary: The San Jacinto Cottage is an absolutely stunning property! The backyard is exquisite with a gorgeous pool that we spent the entire day and evening in. The house is well stocked and the beautifully curated interior decor makes the home feel so comfortable and welcoming. The bedrooms are beautiful and the beds are comfortable. A friends reunion brought our group together and we absolutely loved our stay here and would come back again! The owner Steve is so responsive and was delightful. He provided recommendations for places of interest and overall provided such a phenomenal experience. The location can’t be beat as it’s walkable to downtown Palm Springs and close to all the shops.

Summary: The location of this gorgeous home is perfect. Just a couple streets from downtown. Just far enough that you are surrounded by gorgeous residential homes and yet only a few minutes from the main strip.The pool is amazing, it's so big and pretty! Remember to ask the host for heating if wanted. It is an extra cost and is turned on remotely. We were there in April so needed the pool heating. Perhaps in the hotter months it's unnecessary. I like to be able to get up out of bed and walk straight in to the pool. The pool is a lovely private setting with surrounding lawn, large enough to do yoga, my kids played catch, it's a decent size surround. So peaceful and relaxing and private. The birds chirping in the morning really made my stay.Cleanliness was mostly good, the ensuite bathroom shower could have been better. On any matters that I needed to message or call the host about, like the heating, he was very responsive and helpful immediately.I would stay here again in a heartbeat. I love the house, it has many gorgeous old style palm springs touches and it was exactly what I needed. Thank you!

Summary: We so enjoyed our visit in this beautiful home and it’s so close to downtown Palm Springs. We were able to walk to many restaurants and activities. The house is so uniquely decorated, the backyard is very private with a wonderful pool, and a view of the mountains through the palm trees. The kitchen is very well equipped, and the eight of us had plenty of room in the living areas and in the bedrooms.Thank you Steve for a great stay and for being so responsive!

Summary: We loved the property and layout of the house. The only complaint was that many of the outlets did not work.It would have been nice if you mentioned that there are many floating devices in the garage. We wouldn’t have brought our own.We had a very enjoyable stay.
